Privacy policy

What SalaryAndTax collects (very little), how the Google ads on the site use cookies, and how to turn off personalized ads.

Updated

The short version

SalaryAndTax has no accounts and no sign-up, and we don't store the numbers you enter. The site doesn't set cookies of its own. The ads on the site come from Google AdSense, and Google uses cookies to choose and measure them. You can turn off personalized ads at any time (see below).

The numbers you enter

The calculator runs in your browser. Your salary, province, pay frequency and tax year go into the page's address, so you can bookmark or share a result, and anyone you send the link to will see those figures.

When you download a PDF statement, those same figures are sent to our server to build the file. We don't keep a copy or a record of what you asked for.

Like most websites, our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps short-lived server logs of the requests it handles, including the page address and your IP address. We use them only to keep the site running and to fix problems.

Advertising and cookies

SalaryAndTax is paid for by ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site based on your earlier visits to it and to other websites. Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on those visits, and measure how the ads perform.

You can:

With personalized ads turned off, you'll still see ads, but they won't be based on your browsing. Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its ads.

When you email us

If you email us, we use your address and your message only to reply. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your email with anyone.

Analytics

We don't use an analytics service at the moment. If we add one, we'll say so here before it goes live.

Changes and questions

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions about your privacy are welcome at the address on our contact page.
